Are we still the Divided States of America?
The Right Track?
When it comes to governing and trying to help the country through this worldwide crisis, yes, we finally see reports that we are on the right track here in the United States, but you would never know it by watching the news—they've been all doom and gloom lately. This seems way off base considering what Republicans have done—or rather, what they haven't done. They've done little to help the economy in the past 40 years, and certainly have not done a thing since Biden was elected, but they sure are big on taking away our civil liberties. Just look at how they overturned 50 years of precedent on Roe v Wade. Meanwhile, Biden and the Democrats have made this worldwide inflation a lot less here in the states when compared to other countries we are doing well. If Republicans would stop blocking Biden at every turn just like they did to Obama, we could have done even more. But it's intentional—as long as a Democrat is in office, Republicans won't support anything. Is this really how you want your leaders to behave?
The Reality of the Situation
The reality is that we are in a worldwide recession caused by the pandemic. It has been exacerbated by Republican obstructionism at every turn. And while other countries are starting to recover they are still lagging behind the United States. I believe the United States could have been doing even better sooner but because Republicans refused to work with Democrats to get anything done we have to be happy with the progress we have got, at least until we can get a filibuster-proof senate.
It's no wonder that billionaires are doing better than ever while everyone else is struggling. They can afford to buy our government, inflation does not affect them like it affects you and me, so that's exactly what they're doing. They're buying politicians who will do their bidding, regardless of how it hurts the rest of us. That's not democracy—that's oligarchy. And it has to stop if we're ever going to get out of this mess.
We're on the Right Track
It's been a long and winding road, but according to the latest economic reports, we are finally on the right track when it comes to combating this worldwide inflation. As I said the media has been all doom and gloom, which seems way off base considering what Republicans have (or haven't) done to help the economy. But they sure are big on taking away our civil liberties - like overturning 50 years of precedent on Roe v Wade. Meanwhile, what Biden and the Democrats have done has made this worldwide inflation a lot less here in the states. But we never hear much of it in the press, I have to wonder if that's intentional - as long as a Democrat is a president, we know the Republicans won't support anything but what about the press nobody ever calls them out. It seems clear who they pull for when watching the network's news programming. We seriously need to bring back the old FCC rule of any opinion broadcasted by a station the opposite opinion must be given equal time on that station, this would solve so much.
Inflation rates have been rising steadily for the past few years, but according to the latest reports, we are finally starting to see some relief. The United States has always been relatively good at combating inflation, but under President Biden and the Democratic Party, we are doing even better. Inflation rates are still high compared to historical norms, but they are lower than they have been - and they continue to trend downward. This is good news for everyone, but it is especially good news for those on fixed incomes or who are struggling to make ends meet.
The Republican Party likes to claim credit for the good economy, but the truth is that they have done very little to help. In fact, their policies have often made things worse. For example, their recent tax cuts mainly benefited the wealthy and corporations, while doing nothing for middle-class families or those who are struggling to get by. Meanwhile, their repeated attempts to repeal Obamacare would have taken away health insurance from millions of people and caused premiums to skyrocket. It's no wonder that so many people are fed up with the Republican Party - and it's no wonder that they keep losing elections.
The Latest on Inflation and the Economy
As you all know there's been a lot of talks lately about inflation and the economy. With all of the doom and gloom in the news, it's easy to forget that we are actually doing quite well when compared to other countries. In fact, the latest economic reports show that we are on the right track in combating worldwide inflation.
However, there is still more work to be done. As I was saying if Republicans had not blocked Democrats in Congress, more could have been accomplished. It's clear that they are only interested in obstructing progress as long as a Democrat is in office. Is this really the kind of leadership you want?
What Is Inflation?
In order to understand why we're doing better than other countries, it's important to first understand what inflation is. Inflation is defined as "a sustained increase in the general level of prices for goods and services." Simply put, it's when the cost of living goes up.
There are a number of factors that can contribute to inflation, but one of the most common is an increase in the money supply. When there's more money chasing after fewer goods and services, prices go up. That's why you may have noticed that your groceries seem to be costing more these days even though your paycheck hasn't changed.
Why Are We Doing Better Than Other Countries?
So, why are we doing better than other countries when it comes to inflation? One reason is that our central bank, the Federal Reserve, has been very proactive in combatting inflation. They've been able to do this by keeping interest rates low and by increasing the money supply at a slower rate than other countries have.
In addition, our government has implemented policies like quantitative easing which have also helped to keep inflation under control. As a result of these efforts, we've been able to weather the current economic downturn much better than most other countries have.
The latest economic reports show that we are making progress in combating worldwide inflation. However, there is still more work to be done. If Republicans would stop obstructing progress, we could make even more progress. This is an important issue that should be considered when voting for leaders in upcoming elections. The United States is finally starting to get a handle on its own inflation, but there is still more work to be done. We need to continue electing Democrats who will fight for policies that help everyone - not just the wealthy and well-connected. Only then can we hope to get our economy back on track and start moving forward again in a sustained way.
