According to a former executive for one of West’s businesses, West had such an “obsession” with Hitler that it made the work environment extremely toxic.

“He would praise Hitler by saying how incredible it was that he was able to accumulate so much power and would talk about all the great things he and the Nazi Party achieved for the German people,” the individual told CNN. The executive left his position and reached a settlement with West and some of his companies over workplace complaints, including harassment, which CNN has reviewed. The former executive asked not to be named due to a confidentiality agreement and fear of retribution by West. According to the agreement, West denied the executive’s allegations. The executive told CNN that West spoke openly about reading “Mein Kampf,” Hitler’s 1925 autobiographical manifesto and expressed his “admiration” for the Nazis and Hitler for their use of propaganda.

If that wasn’t disturbing enough, at least four other former West associates recalled that West seriously considered naming what would become his eighth studio album “Hitler”; it was ultimately named “Ye.”

None of this comes as any surprise to former TMZ staffer Van Lathan Jr. Earlier this month, Lathan recalled that during a 2018 interview for TMZ, West said, “I love Hitler, I love Nazis”—or words to that effect. Nathan believes those comments are proof that West had antisemitism already in him. TMZ edited West’s comments about Hitler out of the interview. However, what was left in the interview is still disgusting; he claimed that slavery was a choice.

This alone should have raised serious questions about whether West was fit and proper to run a private school. But since Donda opened, other questions have been raised as well. According to Rolling Stone, parents who want to enroll their children at the school must sign non-disclosure agreements—or “informal agreements,” as a school consultant describes them. The school’s principal, Brianne Campbell, has no formal educational experience; she only recently began studying for her master’s degree at nearby Pepperdine University.

Information about the school has been difficult to come by. Rolling Stone reported that none of the school’s administrators or the leaders of its athletic program answered multiple inquiries about the school. Several parents of basketball players told The New York Times that they have had a hard time finding out information about the school, even though many of their sons left their homes in Chicago, Detroit and elsewhere to attend.

This would be concerning in and of itself, especially so soon after Bishop Sycamore, a sham high school in Columbus, Ohio, conned its way into a primetime slot on ESPN by lying about having a roster full of blue chip recruits. Further investigation revealed that the players there received no education to speak of, and also revealed a litany of lies that didn’t hold up under minimal scrutiny. In December, the Ohio Department of Education concluded that Bishop Sycamore was almost certainly a fraud, and referred the matter to the state attorney general for possible criminal action.

A school that makes prospective parents sign NDAs, a principal with no formal educational experience, and isn’t forthcoming about itself would be enough to set off alarm bells. Now, throw in that said school’s founder is a chest-beating antisemite who has no qualms about admiring Hitler—and even wanted to name an album about him. No one has any business complaining about said school getting kicked out of tournaments.

Donda briefly announced it would close its doors on Thursday before reversing itself and saying it would stay open after all. If there is any justice, though, it ought to be only a brief respite.

One would hope that CNN’s report would trigger a deep dive into who is funding West’s bid to buy right-wing social media platform Parler. It was already amply established that anyone funding this bid is giving succor to antisemitism of the worst type. Now, with news that West fawns over Hitler? Any bank funding him deserves to be held up for public ridicule.
