I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on events with John in Ghana.

John is a young man in Ghana who has dedicated his life to helping others. He has had a continuing health problem which I recently found was a cancerous hemorrhoid. He has been losing blood so badly that he has almost died of it more than once. About a week ago he had another episode and his doctor told me that it was extremely important that it be taken care of as soon as possible.

In my desperation I swallowed my pride and asked people here for help. Immediately they came through and the needed money was raised in a matter of hours. I wish I could find the words to express how grateful I am. This is a wonderful community filled with truly caring, wonderful people.

At any rate, GoFundMe released the money on Tuesday and I sent it right on to John. John went right to the hospital and spoke with them. They have arranged for the operation to be in three days time. An expert is coming in (I assume from Accra) and he will do the actual operation.

John wanted me to tell everyone how deeply he appreciates the help that you have all given him. He has been living in great pain for a long time now and he is eager to go back to a normal life and ‘not die young.’

Someone asked if he will not need radiation treatment. I honestly don’t know. As I said, I did communicate directly with his doctor who seemed to think this operation will solve the problem. Just a brief google on this subject seems to indicate that the removal of the hemorrhoid is all that is needed unless it has spread. Of course we all hope that tis is the case.

At any rate, this is where things stand. obviously we will all be anxious and worried until the operation is actually done and we hear the results from it, but at least now we have a fighting chance.

Once again Thank you all for your loving care and for your help. You have literally saved a man’s life. (Prayers, healing meditations, and positive thoughts would be deeply appreciated, too.)

Just a footnote, John has checked with the matron (his word) who is caring for little Anabel, the abandoned 3 year old, and she is doing fine for now. When John has recovered somewhat we will try to arrange treatment for her mother so that she can take her child back and they can resume their lives. But for now the little girl is well.
