In actuality, Stavian attempted to follow what prosecutors described as “varying commands” from officers, The New York Times reported. The teen exited the gas station when ordered and dropped a gun he had pulled from his pants when ordered. When he, however, rested his free hand on a back pocket, officer Sarah Carli fired a “less lethal” round, hitting the teen. He only had a cell phone in his pocket, the Times reported.

The five officers charged—Bethany Sears, Jared Barton, Corey Adams, John Skuta and Brad Pemberton—continued firing at Stavian.

Cameo Holland, Stavian's mother, told the Times the officers should serve time for killing her son. “I don’t defend what he did at the store or even him being there,” she said, “but nobody should expect to be killed for committing a crime — not robbery.”

You would think someone being investigated for a crime would share that sentiment, but that’s not the case for Calvey, who is the subject of an ongoing Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation probe into allegations he misused public campaign funds.

Daniel Nichanian, editor-in-chief of Bolts digital magazine, tweeted that while Oklahoma County went to former President Donald Trump in the last election, he won by only 1% and the county seated a Democrat as top prosecutor.

x This is Oklahoma County, state's most populous.

While it went for Trump like every other OK county, it's been open to Democrats. Trump won by 1%, and the retiring DA is a Dem.

Vicki Behenna, the Democratic nominee, was a federal prosecutor for 25 years, served as a defense attorney, and led the Oklahoma Innocence Project, The Oklahoman reported.

"Experience matters in this job," she said. "I have made hundreds of charging decisions and hundreds of sentencing decisions. I am not a politician.”
