If Mehmet "Slick-Rick" Oz, Wins in PA, We Will All Be Attending Democracy's Funeral. (Um: he won't). [1]

Looking forward to calling him, Senator.
I hope not too many people here are wetting their pants after last night’s debate between Repub Dr. “Slick-Rick” Oz and Democratic Lt. Governor Fetterman. Because if debates won elections, we would be saying “Madam President” to Hillary Clinton in her second term today.
But debates DON’T win elections. Focused candidates who don’t allow their opponents to make the rules of the race, determine the turf on which the race is to be run, and make the main subject of the race what THEY want the main subject to be.
As long as Lt. Governor Fetterman played up HIS strengths (the main one being his years-long record of SERVICE to PA), and “Dr. “Slick Rick’s” weaknesses-dude is a carpetbagger who don’t even live in PA-the race was Fetterman’s to lose. And NO, dammit, Fetterman did NOT have to agree to the damn debate. Maybe back in the Lincoln/Douglas debate days, those made a difference. But in modern day, televised, choreographed, made-for-tv-showtimey-type “debates,” not so much.
IMHO, that was political malpractice for his advisors/consultant class to have him do that debate this early in his recovery process. Because guess what, the frequent “pauses” that Fetterman made have been amplified times 1000x, as if under an electron microscope. It’s the LEAD story-with- the- clips-on EVERY morning show!! (Even still, Fetterman held his own, and even got in a few jabs of his own).
As a semi-retired 40-year veteran RN, I’ve cared for many stroke victims and the ones who got the rapid, top-notch care and treatment Fetterman got, do (as his DOCTOR has stated), quite well in their recovery and many get back to close to 100% of their pre-stroke level of functioning.
I’m sending another contribution to the Fetterman campaign (won’t be much, fixed income and all), and I hope, those who are able, will do the same. (IMHO, if Fetterman wins his race and Tim Ryan wins his in Ohio, we can truly hasten the demise of the trumpMAGA party and speed up the return of sanity to what used to be the Grand Old Party of folks like Ed Brooke of Massachusetts and Everett Dirkson of Illinois.)
