Clichés Are Upside Down. Let's Turn Them Back
I am forking mad at the mainstream media, which puts stories exactly upside down.
Everyone, repeat three times:
Dems fight crimes, Republicans commit crimes
Dems fight crimes, Republicans commit crimes
Dems fight crimes, Republicans commit crimes
Remember, repetition is good! Repetition is good!
Republicans claim to be the party of “law and order,” but it’s just a slogan. Republicans are really the party of crimes and chaos.
As always, there are too many examples to be able to list everything, so I am just giving a few, so that readers are not too worn out to continue. Please, add more examples in the comments!
Violent crime is higher in red states than in blue states Ben Adler Yahoo News
Most people, if they listen to what passes for the news, would think that Rs are tough on crime, and that crime happens more often in the blue states. Take a look
But a comparison of violent crime rates in jurisdictions controlled by Democrats and Republicans tells a very different story. In fact, a new study from the center-left think tank Third Way shows that states won by Trump in the 2020 election have higher murder rates than those carried by Joe Biden. The highest murder rates, the study found, are often in conservative, rural states. The study found that murder rates in the 25 states Trump carried in 2020 are 40% higher overall than in the states Biden won. (The report used 2020 data because 2021 data is not yet fully available.) The five states with the highest per capita murder rate — Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, Alabama and Missouri — all lean Republican and voted for Trump. There are some examples of states Biden won in 2020 that also have high per capita murder rates, including New Mexico and Georgia, which have the seventh- and eighth-highest murder rates, respectively. And there are Trump-supporting states with low murder rates, such as Idaho and Utah. Broadly speaking, the South, and to a lesser extent the Midwest, has more murders per capita than the Northeast, interior West and West Coast, the study found.
Democrats actually fund the police. American Progress
Now, one thing Ds are pretty bad at is messaging. The “defund the police” rally was understandable at the time, but they were also the most shortsighted three words ever uttered, and then-candidate Biden was right to come out completely against it.
Furthermore, it’s the Ds who support the police (just as they generally support city services).
Democrat-run cities spend more money on policing than Republican-run cities, with the 25 largest Democrat-run cities spending 38 percent more on policing per capita than the 25 largest Republican-run cities. ✂️

At the federal level, President Joe Biden and Democrats sponsored and secured passage of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which provides federal resources to support police departments. Republicans voted against President Biden’s ARPA, which included $350 million in federal funding to hire more police.
Who Wants Sensible Gun Control? Dems. But also, the police.
We all know how Rs — at least, the majority of their politicians — feel about guns. More guns, for everyone! No background checks. Take Christmas photos with your AR-15s! But the police would actually like there to be fewer guns on the streets, and only the Ds are supporting this. Here’s what you find in a paper put out by the International Association of Chiefs of Police:
The level of firearm-related injuries and deaths in the United States, which includes homicides, suicides, and accidental shootings, is unacceptable and demands immediate attention. Since 2000, over 500,000 Americans have lost their lives to firearms violence which averages to over 31,000firearm deaths per year. While acts of terrorism and mass shootings receive the most media coverage, gun violence claims lives every day in cities and towns throughout the United States. Acknowledging that any death by a firearm is equally tragic, regardless of the cause, the call to action remains the same – to safeguard the public and those who put their lives on the line each day to ensure the safety and wellbeing of communities. Outlined in this position paper are common sense polices that would assist in reducing gun violence, while upholding the second amendment. Firearms Policy Positions Body Armor The IACP supports legislation to prohibit the mail order sale of bulletproof vests and body armor to all individuals except sworn or certified law enforcement officers. In recent years, the safety of law enforcement officers has often been compromised due to the possession of body armor and bulletproof vests by the criminals they were attempting to apprehend. The IACP believes that the sale, transfer, or acquisition of these items should be conducted in person in order to make it more difficult for criminals to acquire and use these items while committing crimes of violence. Conceal Carry Reciprocity The IACP opposes any federal legislative proposals that would either pre-empt and/or mandate the liberalization of individual states’ concealed-carry weapons (CCW) laws pertaining to the carrying of concealed weapons in other states without meeting that state’s requirements. ✂️ Firearm Purchase Waiting Period The IACP supports a waiting period for the purchase of a handgun. In the past, waiting periods have not only served as time for a thorough background investigation, but also as an informal cooling off period for handgun purchasers. However, the time needed to perform most background checks has become obsolete due to transition to the National Instant Check Background System (NICS). Nevertheless, the IACP believes there must still be a cooling off period in place before an individual can purchase a handgun. Therefore, the IACP supports legislation to create a mandatory five-day waiting period prior to the completion of a handgun purchase.
There’s also this: tRump is out criming every day.
I know, it is hard to use this as a talking point, but it is true. For many Rs, it seems that the price of admittance to become a politician is to commit crimes. And it makes sense. If you want to commit crimes while in office, who better to look the other way than other criminals?

Please add your own information on this, and spread the word, in order to fight the lies.
🐦 I do a lot of other writing. A recent offering: Hunters of the Feather, a story about a thinker-linker crow who wants to save birdkind from extinction, and the sequel, Scavengers of Mind. (They’re really good! They’re really cheap! Buy and review or rate positively! And Hunters is also available on Audible!) Other stories, based on Jane Austen novels — including a new one for lovers of Pride & Prejudice, Mrs. Bennet’s Advice to Young Ladies— and others on Greek mythology, can be found here. All titles are available through Kindle Unlimited, but I only get paid if you turn the pages.
