Lt. Governor John Fetterman (D. PA)
There’s a lot of discussions regarding the U.S. Senate debate tonight between Lt. Governor John Fetterman (D. PA) and Quack Doctor Mehmet Oz (R. NJ). I’m not going to discuss it because I’ve had too many arguments tonight with commentors about it and honestly, I’m just tired. So I’m going to keep this short. I have been scrolling through Twitter at the responses of the debate. I’ve ignored commenting on them except for this one:
x I'm really offended by the both siderism argument you're making here. If DeSantis had a stroke and had to debate I absolutely would never make fun of his condition and I hate DeSantis. Democrats are not cruel tribalists. We actually believe in empathy. — Samuel Sero (@samsero) October 26, 2022
There are progressive journalists that I don’t like but I have never read one that has ever made fun of a candidates disability. I also never thought it was funny when Bill Maher made fat jokes about Chris Christie. Even back when I was a fan because I felt it was a low blow attempt at comedy. Progressive journalists would get torn apart by the Fox News Machine and real life trolls like Ben Shapiro if they attacked a Republican over the disability and the rest of the mainstream media would join the outrage. And it would be warranted because it’s never cool to attack someone’s physical disability. Imagine if then Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D. IL) attacked then U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R. IL) over his stroke during the 2016 U.S. Senate debate. You think Duckworth would be a Senator? Absolutely not. In fact, Duckworth and Kirk agreed to not make light of each other’s physical disabilities and instead focus on the issues.
Also:
x Ben Ray Lujan a sitting Senator, had a stroke *in January*, was back in the Senate 6 weeks later, has had no difficulty performing his duties, but because everything in America exists in a vacuum it hasn't been discussed in the context of John Fetterman running for the same job — David Dayen (@ddayen) October 26, 2022
So yeah, I highly doubt Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow, Mother Jones, The Nation, The Intercept, Huffington Post, TPM and any other progressive outlet there would dare do what I am seeing out of the vile MAGA trolls on Twitter. Like this piece of shit:
x OMG John Fetterman it’s worse than any of us could have ever imagined. At this point the moderator is filibustering to make sure he doesn’t get any more Qs. I think that’s 4 in a row to @DrOz. Even today’s partisan hack media can’t cover for Fetterman being brain dead! #PASen — Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) October 26, 2022
Or this fucking asshole:

I hate MAGA Republicans with a passion but I would never stoop to their level and make fun of them over any sort of physical disability. Now I will agree with Ross Barkan on these Tweets:
x Ultimately, voters should choose who they want, and people recover from strokes. He can do his job in the Senate. But empathy for victims should be extended to everyone. — Ross Barkan (@RossBarkan) October 26, 2022
x Getting Fetterman to drop out ultimately couldn't happen, in part, because he was such a good candidate in the primary, absolutely destroying Lamb and everyone else. He earned the nomination. He might still win. It'll be very, very close. — Ross Barkan (@RossBarkan) October 26, 2022
Honestly, I thought Oz came off as an asshole and I am happy to see this:
x NEWS: Fetterman campaign announces they will put Oz's comments on abortion from tonight's #PASENDebate in paid media, starting tomorrow. #PASEN pic.twitter.com/P4ZPd2irDe — David Bergstein (@DavidABergstein) October 26, 2022
Here’s what they are referencing:
x Holy shit: Oz says his abortion position: should be between "a woman, her doctor, and local political leaders" #PASenDebate pic.twitter.com/UDiJvDYHYo — Pat Dennis (@patdennis) October 26, 2022
Glenn Youngkin (R. VA) and Virginia Republicans didn’t waste time attacking Terry McAuliffe (D. VA) on his debate gaffe in 2021 so it’s good to see Fetterman’s team learn the same lesson.
Also, I just donated as well:
x NEWS: Our campaign has raised $500k since the debate.
Keep it rolling
