We Need Progressive Celebrities To Donate To Campaigns [1]

But it sure would help if wealthy celebrities that talk a good game stepped up their financial donations to critical campaigns.

Hi All,

I am writing this out of frustration and anxiety over the mid terms. To get to the point, I am sick and tired of candidates sending me emails implying if I do not donate to their campaign, then all is lost. I have received emails with the subject line of ‘Goodbye’, ‘Why Aren’t You Helping?’ and “It’s All Over.’ Only to open the email and find they are only referring to their current fundraising goal. I have already donated $25 to each of the following candidates and I can not afford to donate any more.

Unfortunately, after making these donations, the problem has only gotten worse. I get it. Today’s elections require vast amounts of cash to win. I also understand that Democrats and Progressives rely on small donors for their campaign funds. I get it. But then, I keep receiving emails stating McConnell and Trump and Kevin McCarthy, among other fascists, have these vast war chests and dumping huge sums of dark money into campaigns to basically buy the Senate and the House. If this is true, and I have no doubt that it is… how can we compete with these millionaires and billionaires priming the fascist war chest?

Then I see celebs on Twitter and other social media, whom I will not name, who thump their chests mightily in support of Progressive candidates and espousing their defense of Democracy and our Constitution. However, we need these celebrities to dig deep into their pockets and donate to these Progressive campaigns, just like us little guys. A quick Google search can find the monetary worth of these folks to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. We need the deep pockets on our side to step up and help. I don’t know… I feel like I am spending my limited monetary resources fighting for our Democracy and our Constitution while the vastly wealthy are not pulling their share… although they talk a good game.

I feel overwhelmed at this point. All I can do is vote and hope and pray for the best. Right now, it just does not seem like enough.
