Republicans are running on the big lie that the only cure for inflation is a drastic cut in Federal spending. When consumers look at gas prices and food prices in particular, they see rising prices; and are scared into buying the Republican lie. The truth is that food prices in particular are being drive by climate change; climate change deniers in control of the Congress would actually make things worse in the not so distant long run.

This year’s hard red winter wheat crop was the smallest since 1963 . In Texas, cotton farmers have walked away from nearly 70 percent of their crop. ... The poor yields are probably more than a one-year blip, as climate change alters weather patterns in agriculturally important parts of the country, contributing to higher food prices that experts don’t see ebbing any time soon.”

Both its agricultural production and export capabilities have been decimated by the war: Its cargo exports decreased 92% between May 2021 and May 2022.”
