“House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said that if Republicans win control of the House the GOP will use raising the debt limit as leverage to force spending cuts — which could [read will] include cuts to Medicare and Social Security — and limit additional funding to Ukraine.”
This makes Kevin (Charley) McCarthy the horror film “chucky” of Trump's ventriloquist dummies. Rather fitting for Halloween, but this is not fiction? The consequences of this ignorant, economic terrorist becoming speaker of the House of Representative is all too likely to result in a world wide depression caused by the unconscionable greed of the American fascists.
Franklin Roosevelt defined Fascism as “ownership of Government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power.” Unfortunately, this is what is now happening as the Republican fascist party continues to press its agenda to cede all control over our government and our judicial system to the top one or two percent of the population.
“On Jan. 21, 2010, in the case Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission (FEC), the Court ruled to strike down a prohibition on corporate independent expenditures, which has since enabled corporations and other outside groups to engage in unlimited amounts of campaign spending. …The Court assumed that unlimited corporate campaign spending would pose no threat of corruption or the appearance of corruption because it would be “independent.”
“Independent”? What a horror movie laugh that is. Corporate money controls our politicians through campaign spending, and it gets much worse because dark money has also corrupted our judicial system.
So what does this have to do with the economy. Well, for those of you who are silly enough to believe that the Republicans are better at handling the economy, let me say that the Republican Party is the party of the oligopoly, by the oligopoly, and for the oligopoly. And the oligopoly will and does charge what the market will bear. Can you say inflation?
“During a House of Representatives hearing on Wednesday, United States Congresswoman Katie Porter (D-California) grilled Mike Konczal, the director of Macroeconomic Analysis at the Roosevelt Institute, over the primary cause of inflation in the post-COVID-19 economy. Equipped with one of her easy-to-read, data-filled posters, Porter got Konczal to admit that surging corporate profits are forcing American consumers to pay significantly more for goods and services.”
Needless to say that Katie Porter is one of the Democratic Party's shinning stars, and the contrast between her and Kevin McCarthy demonstrates just how important it is to give the Democratic Party control over congress in order to keep the fascist elephant from trampling on our right to vote and have our votes counted, a woman's right to an abortion and birth control, the earned benefits programs we have paid into and so many us depend on, and the health of the world’s economy!
