"At the end of the day, you are judged by your character." ~ Republican Representative Steve Scalise

In a press conference long after the January 6 insurrection, Republican Representative Steve Scalise purposely lied when he implied Speaker Nancy Pelosi delayed National Guard assistance to clear the Capitol of Trump-inspired rioters.

Video footage shown in the January 6 Committee hearing on Thursday, October 13, shows Speaker Pelosi in a secure room at Fort McNair, on a speaker phone, urging Trump-appointed DOD officials to send the National Guard to the Capitol while Representative Scalise, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and other Republican leaders stood close by listening and silently watching.

Why would Republican Minority Whip Scalise, 57, an eight-term Congressman who represents Louisiana's 1st Congressional District, knowingly attempt to make voters believe Speaker Pelosi failed to call for the National Guard to protect the lives of Capitol police, Representatives and Senators, and Congressional staff members when he knew better?

Perhaps the larger question is, why do Republicans like Steve Scalise prefer to lie about political opponents instead of working to win elections by attracting voters with positive legislative policies designed to improve the quality of life for the American people?

The answer is alarmingly obvious.

The New Republican Party, led by a failed businessman with a history of committing fraud, lying through his teeth, selling-out institutions established to protect democracy, slamming anyone who dares disagree, and collaborating with enemy states like North Korea and Russia, is determined, at all costs, to seize power, the best interests of the American people be damned.

Why do Republican politicians like Steve Scalise attack Democrats with lies that can easily be fact-checked and debunked?

Simple.

They believe that most Americans are too distracted, stupid, or tribal to bother checking.

How do so many Republicans become such skillful liars?

Experts tell us that skillful liars are typically good communicators who embed lies in truth, incorporate just enough truth to make their lies sound reasonable but not enough to dilute their purpose, and intentionally make their lies vague and often include fabricated details to make their lies seem plausible.

What should voters do before the 2022 mid-term elections to avoid being manipulated by Republican liars?

Stop focusing on lies and start focusing on liars.

Right?

Hopefully,

Davy Z Jones
