Russia’s Threat to the Midterms [1]

Cybersecurity firm, Recorded Future, is predicting that U.S. support for Ukraine will result in election interference in the midterms . Having interfered in the 2016 election, this election presents Russia with an opportunity to get some revenge on the U.S. for Ukraine. in 2021, the US. Intelligence Community already warned about interference from Russia, China, and Iran. Recorded Future believes that, since then, the risks have only increased.
Putin is Facing a Humiliating Defeat
The United States has firmly supported Ukraine, ever since Russia’s invasion of that country. In that time, the invasion has gone very badly for Russia. What began as a campaign whose ambition was to rapidly take the nation’s capital, Kyiv, and install a puppet government, has turned into a long war where Russia has had to face the possibility of a frozen campaign that will last for years. With Ukraine advancing in the east and south, an important bridge blown up, and a flailing mobilization effort, Russia is now staring at the possibility of a humiliating defeat. In response, Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has threatened nuclear retaliation if the West continues to support Ukraine. Putin is in a corner, and he’s desperate. While the nuclear threat has made headlines, Recorded Future’s report shows that Russia’s threat is broader.
Sowing Discord in the Midterms
Recorded Future believes that the aim of Russia’s election interference is to sow discord along divisie political and social issues, and to undermine trust in US institutions. China is also expected to interfere in the midterms, using its army of “wolf warrior” influences. This is in response to House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, in support of the island’s sovereignty. China insists that Taiwan is part of it, and has indicated that it plans on invading Taiwan in the future. President Joe Biden has shown a willingness to support Taiwan militarily, if China invades. Iran is also expected to interfere in the election if the nuclear deal doesn't go its way. There is also a threat from domestic extremists, fringe sources, and other malign actors.

The person posting does not exist, and posts targeting conservative audiences. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) believes that the IRA is linked to Russia.
