Thankfully the Santa Clara County Democratic Party has been keeping track of the right-wing fanatics running in local school boards.

Here is a sample of some of the crazy stuff they found:

The complete list of MAGA school board candidates can be found HERE.

San Jose Mayor race

After 16 years of anti-worker, anti-union rule, San Jose has its first real chance to elect a pro-worker mayor. Cindy Chavez is a well-respected candidate with many years experience in local politics. Previously San Jose city council where she consistently pushed back on Mayor Chuck Reed’s disastrous and unconstitutional attack on city workers. Currently she is a county supervisor.

Despite her years of siding with labor orgs and opposing the local Chamber of Commerce’s policies, Jim Cunneen, the conservative former CEO of the CoC came out early with a strong endorsement of his longtime foe.

And it’s not just Jim, every colleague of her opponent on the current city council, from liberal to conservative, all have endorsed Chavez for mayor. While it is pretty obvious that none of them seem to have much trust or respect for the first-term council member, they were strong in their support of Chavez’s ability to have a positive impact as mayor.

x The next mayor of #SanJosé can’t solve our city’s problems alone. That’s why I’m proud to have earned the endorsement of every Councilmember (except my opponent). pic.twitter.com/8feOdOKCPG — Cindy Chavez for Mayor (@chavezformayor) October 15, 2022

**note: Despite having been falsely accused on twitter as somehow being connected to the Chavez campaign, ironically by somebody I found was actually connected to her opponent’s campaign, I did not know the Chavez campaign was posting this ad. I’m not connected to her campaign, just a supporter, but obviously they also felt it makes a significant statement on her abilities.

I did have the last laugh when it was reported that his boss’s campaign had mislabeled him and other campaign staff as “consultants”, a possible violation California labor laws. After a formal complaint was filed with the state, the campaign reclassified the employees and begun paying the required liability insurance and payroll taxes. **

To me personally, I feel her thin-skinned, tech-bro challenger is a fountain of shallow talking points, often playing on fears not too unlike the school board candidates above. In fact, the same Silicon Valley Association of Republican Women trying to install MAGA extremists in our school boards has endorsed Chavez’s opponent.

Do we really want to elect somebody that feels “social good is empowering the NRA” when they already have an undue influence on our politicians.

x Matty blocked me for making sure everyone knew he loves the @nra more than stopping gun violence.

Block him from the Mayor’s office yall. https://t.co/rifPmSzYoj pic.twitter.com/N1tdIS4Nzk — melissa “cancelled student debt” byrne (@mcbyrne) August 3, 2022
