What you are about to witness is a dance adaptation of a Green Heron.

You have front row seats. Hold your applause until the end. (unless you just can’t help it.

You may mimic the leader if you so choose. Take a video and share it with us).

You put your right wing out.

You put your left wing out.

You put both wings in (hey this is fun. I’m telling you. Join in)

And you shake it all about.

You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around, that’s what it’s all about.

You put your right foot up.

You put your left foot up.

You know the drill. And you shake it all about. Keep doing the Hokey Pokey.

You put your crown way down.

You put your crown way up

Refrain.

You put your neck way down.

You put your neck way up.

Refrain. Having fun yet?

You stretch way out.

You fold yourself way in

That’s what the dance is all about.

Now you can applaud.

The above reclining shot was something I have only seen once. The Green Heron went from reclining to this kneeling pose, also rarely seen.

Amazing how far they can stretch out to make a strike.

You might enjoy (or not) the vocalization of a Green Heron. This was taken from a YouTube that is not mine. I have not heard a Green Heron. They don’t vocalize often like Great Blue Heron do.
