We're here to warp time and space, just like this spiffy black hole.

If you’ve ever written a story at Daily Kos, you may have noticed the Update Story option in the left hand menu, which lets you quickly add a snippet of text or embeds to your story without opening the full editor. Our staff uses this function a lot, especially for liveblogs, whether during a hearing, speech, or election night. It sets off new observations in tidy blocks, and it also allows multiple editors to send updates to the story without erasing each other’s changes.

When this function was first designed, we set it up so that updates would go on the end of the story. However, the internet-at-large seems to have settled on the standard of adding updates to the top so that new readers will see the most recent changes first. That’s now how our Update function works too, and for everyone — newest updates will be added to the top.
