Some American symbols that inspire us to action

I'm not one normally given to conspiracy theories and intrigue. I hate drama and supposition, and can't easily follow devious plots and endless cycles of speculation. I'm going to put myself smack dab in the middle of one here though, something that entered my subconscious mind in the night.

I blame certain comments in the Ukraine updates (you know who you are), and Heather Cox Richardson's latest blog, and the whole incredulous TFG thing that started who knows when? I actually had the thought after reading Richardson's piece, ‘and so? What's the connection?'

It came to me somewhere between 3 and 6 am, and when I awakened I had an eerie feeling there was something important I needed to remember about the would be vladiator— these ruminations follow that seminal idea.

I am now more than curious, half convinced I've been calling this wrong and not fully connecting the dots. I've been accusing the Russia of propping the putzie up because of that countries oligarchy and their determination to protect their wealth and status. I don’t doubt this, and still believe it to be absolutely true. Now, this morning, I'm wondering more if he's got to be retained because of his power connections to the American republicans, the federalist society, all those insidious behind the scenes shadowy figures that want to destroy American democracy.

It's no secret is it? That there are powerful American elements that want what they, the ruskie elite have in that country? A powerful dictator who can amass wealth without limit, destroy enemies at home and abroad with impunity, bestow status and favor upon his friends who he elevates to high places.

Putterbutt even admitted his imperialist aspirations didn’t end at the Ukrainian borders. What if he wasn’t talking just about those former soviet states? What if he was couching it that way so we’d ignore the broader intent, Our country, this of We?

I'm hoping these thoughts are laughable to the extreme, and that you’ll soon tell me so. I'm also remembering McConnell's threat to Obama in (I think) 2015 that he'd destroy him (and us!) if he openly shared the recently uncovered Russian/American connection that had been divulged to him as commander in chief.

And how he thought he was doing the prudent thing by backing down.

And the devastating next years that followed and continue to plague us.

These illicit ideas are so worrying not only because they're anathema to the core values inherent in the country I love, and want to preserve, if we can keep it. They alarm me also because in this world of today, the utter impossibilities I could once not have countenanced are rampant.

I know I don’t have to list them here, but what immediately spring to mind are the Stupreme Court, J6, the risible MAGAt candidates running in the upcoming midterms, the proliferation of public sector entities that serve us well being co opted for private control and gain, the crimes tfg committed openly that still go unpunished.

Have my eyes been opened to the real threat of our enemies, in collusion, foreign and domestic? Or am I over blowing the slight fever that caught during my dream state?

I don't know. But I'm about as unsettled now as I think I've ever been. I need coffee and a good Ukraine diary to put me to rights, and your comments to help me find my bearings. Please share your thoughts, if you will. Thanks
