A Thorny Issue, Perhaps!
Dear Daily Kos Folks,
I am very disturbed by the arrest of Konnech CEO Eugene Wu by LosAngeles County District Attorney, George Gascón. The charge is “suspicion of theft” of Los Angeles County poll workers‘ private information.

Konnech’s response is that all of the information they have on poll workers in Los Angeles County was supplied by Los Angeles County, so it wasn’t stolen. Konnech was contracted to provide training and scheduling of Los Angeles County poll workers using their software, called PollChief. So the information to do that was supplied to them. They also are accused of storing poll workers’ information on a server in China. Konnech says the information they had in a subsidiary in China was “dummy information” used for testing their software.
These charges were brought about at the behest of the election denier group True the Vote. We remember that True the Vote are the folks that brought us Dinesh D'Souza’s “2,000 Mules.“ Prior to this, Konnech had brought a lawsuit against True the Vote for doxing their CEO, Eugene Wu. Konnech says Wu had to go into hiding because of death threats to himself and his family.

Supporters of True the Vote have written that True the Vote’s hacking into Konnech’s website and calling Konnech “connected” to the Chinese government is now “vindicated” by this arrest of CEO Eugene Wu on “suspicion of theft.”

I read about this and am reminded of the accusations made that prominent Democrats regularly met in the cellar of a pizza parlor in DC to drink the blood of children. Also the accusation that the Sandy Hook children were crisis actors. And, but, of course, her e-mails. I ’m skeptical, and I wonder why this seems to have gotten very little notice.
Sure, it’s entirely possible that when a judge gets a look at this case, it will be dropped. And, hey, no harm done, right?
But this isn’t Rep. Marjory Taylor Green making some off-the-wall accusation, and Mayor Pete comes back with a clever reply. An actual person was arrested here and charged with a serious crime. Even if the charges are dropped, he now has a record. His life has been upended. His business has been maligned. What’s the real story here? Is this some made-up issue so that the election deniers can point to something, at long last, and also right before the mid-terms? And of course, it’s harder to run a defamation suit from jail. What’s going on, and why does it get such little notice? I would like a discussion of this. Thanks if you can help out.
