Okay, y’all. That Herschel and the cows thing was batshit crazy, but even way before that I was saying that the overturning of Roe v Wade was gonna be bigger than anyone expected. I also think that the way the war in Ukraine is going will help us. And before I go on with my main point, here I just want to say that I wish everyone who cares about justice and peace would fight like Ukrainians. Слава Україні!
Here’s the thing. I’m getting a feeling that people are sick of everyone hating on everyone. I do a good bit of corner store hanging out on a state highway in Florida. The MAGA was palpable, hugely palpable, even just three or four months ago. And this store in particular has an equal number of MAGA and WTF MAGA? people who frequent it, as well as tons of folks who haven’t really thought much about politics.
I’m sensing a weariness from the MAGAs and a steelier and steelier determination from the WTF MAGA folks. But mostly what I’m sensing is an awareness from the previously unaware that, hey, I think I’ll go vote this time because the crazy is fucking ridiculous. And this is Florida!!
I think we’re gonna fare better in a few weeks than we dared to wish so. I may be wrong, but I’m posting this so if I’m right, I have bragging rights for at least a decade or two.
