Iran regime change protests, began by women, but supported by men too, are now nationwide.
After four weeks of violent turmoil, critical steps for progress by the regime change movement in Iran have appeared:
1) Labor strikes
2) Powerbase cracks
Many Iranians who took over the streets of Persia in 1979, to overthrow the murderously oppressive police state monarchy of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, fought for a liberal democracy. The lasting result was instead a far worse murderously oppressive police state theocracy: The Islamic Republic of Iran.
Since then, numerous protest movements over many years have been (sometimes gunfire) suppressed and failed to improve anything. The most recent ”Bloody November” economic conditions protests in 2019, cost 1,500 Iranian lives.
Under Obama, the U.S. kept silent in 2009, afraid of helping the Iranian cleric dictatorship delegitimize protesters. No more! Biden decided Obama policy was “overthink”! Now, emergency legal measures unsanction Iran, specifically to allow Elon Musk to turn on Starlink Internet Services in Iran. (Yes, I know Musk refused to operate Starlink in Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula; Starlink operations have unexplainedly failed Ukrainian soldiers during counteroffensive operations in Kharkiv and Kherson Oblasts; and Musk won’t operate Starlink in China, where he has a Tesla Plant. But that’s not the subject of this article.)
In a September 16, 2022, 7 minute 45 second interview of Christiane Amanpour by Trevor Noah: “…80% of Iranian people are under the age 21, 60% of students and university graduates are women. Women have a lot of power and they want their full rights!” ("Amanpour was raised in Tehran [Iran] until the age of 11.")
Maybe, this time, Iran will come out better!
