Shouldn't they take an oath to the United States Constitution? That requirement frees an individual from being loyal to traitorous leaders and relies upon solid time-proven principles of conduct and governance.

Link to Part 1 of this diary— "A Grifts of Trumps" — The Week in Editorial Cartoons, The Walker Fiasco, and Great Rant Edition Please Read This Yes, that’s me at the moment! From time to time, DK acts up and in spite of numerous efforts by me, it will not accept more than ‘x’ number of editorial cartoons — even as I have posted a far greater number in previous such diaries. Some editing error keeps popping up and one that negates everything saved so far in the diary draft. Which means I have to keep replicating the diary draft to a new page over and over again. This is my 6th or 7th such attempt to successfully post this diary. As it is, putting this weekly diary together week after week — researching editorial cartoons, saving, sorting, selecting, searching for gems from the past, and posting the final version — is, to state the obvious, a very time-consuming effort. Experiencing technical dificulties on top is the last damn thing I need. So, I’m going to post a shorter version of this diary and will, one by one, post addition cartoons on Russia, Iran, and MAGA Nuts in the comments section. If you can sense a bit of irritation in my tone, you would be correct!

So many editorial cartoons to find, review, save and post. Phew! As in the past few weeks, this is a two-part diary. With editorial cartoons both in the text of the diaries as well as ones I usually post in the comments section, you get to enjoy about 90-100 cartoons. Part 1 of the diary has about 30 editorial cartoons. It includes sections on voting, the various legal entanglements of Donald Trump, the disaster that is Herschel Walker in the US Senate race in Georgia , and how Ron DeSantis is bungling the rebuilding of Florida. The final section has old clips of two great live performances and a few interesting tid bits about scientist Marie Curie. Note : I have already posted about 20 cartoons in comments in Part 1 of this diary. Part 2 of the diary has around 20 editorial cartoons dealing with voting, the Alt-Right crowd, videos from Iran, and the US Extreme Court. In the final section, I found an interesting old magazine cover with the Beatles and James Bond. As mentioned above due to technical issues, I will post additional videos in the comments section (totalling maybe 20-25 in all) covering the Russia-Ukraine war, MAGA Nuts, and Iranian women in revolt against the mullahs. Thanks for reading and supporting the weekly diary. Please remember to participate in the diary polls.

Help Get Out the Youth Vote

Help them to register college students before the November 2022 Elections. Fund the college campus turnout program to get out the vote. Youth voter registration is down compared to recent years, but we still have time to register a lot of college students before Election Day. There are 19.5 million college students nationwide, but right now we’re focused on the over 5 million students in the 13 states where the deadline to register is between this Sunday and next Tuesday. In Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas, the last day to register to vote is quickly approaching. And we need to reach young voters now in our final push before the deadline. The numbers speak louder than words. Not only is our program inexpensive — less than $1 per college student — no one registers and mobilizes college students to vote better than we do. We’ve raised more than $200,000 for our campus registration and GOTV programs, but the more we raise, the more we can do. Don’t Believe These Bogus Reports About “Stolen Elections”

An Excellent Tweet by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)

Two Remarkable Videos and a Stunning Image from Iran

Both spell trouble for the mullahs in power. How many people will they kill in order to maintain their grip on power? At some point, these demonstrations create a momentum that can be virtually unstoppable. It can sweep away the existing political order much faster than anyone expects.

For the people of Iran, let’s hope change comes sooner — rather than later — for they have suffered enough under the yoke of religious nuts and fundamentalists. They deserve better!

You’re Not Welcome Here

x A girls' school in Iran brought a member of the IRGC-run Basij paramilitary to speak to students. The girls welcomed the speaker by taking off their headscarves & chanting "get lost, Basiji".

 Finally…

The Beatles, James Bond, “Love Me Do” and “Dr. No”

In 2004, I wrote this diary — The Beatles, George W. Bush, and John Kerry. Here is a brief excerpt:

The Beatles (from left to right) Ringo Starr, John Lennon (RIP), Paul McCartney, and George Harrison (RIP). The Beatles — the 'Fab Four' group of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr — hit the shores of the United States in 1964 like a sorely-needed breath of fresh air. Over the next few years, their innovative musical sound and brilliant lyrics not only transformed the world of Rock and Roll but gave us much more than just a few memorable tunes. No group before or since has perhaps done more to transform our culture as we know it today. No one reflected the political turbulence, turmoil, anxieties, ambiguities, ambivalence, conflicts, and uncertainties of their era better. Or contributed more to redefine it.

Please remember to take the diary poll.

To answer the poll question, my immediate family overwhelmingly supports the Democratic Party at all political levels. If there are any Trump-leaning members in my extended family, they have yet to openly reveal that fact. I am not looking forward to the occasion when that happens. ;)
