Hello all. Another busy week, and I apologize for not having a new book review this week. But here is the usual list some of the week’s notable nonfiction releases. One of the books, Breathless: The Scientific Race to Defeat a Deadly Virus, by David Quammen, is a National Book Award finalist. Another nonfiction finalist, His Name Is George Floyd: One Man's Life and the Struggle for Racial Justice, by Robert Samuels and Toluse Olorunnipa, was reviewed here in Nonfiction Views on May 31st.

Today was the day the award longlist was winnowed down to the finalists, with the winners to be announced November 16th. On my Literate Lizard website, you can see all the books in the five categories (Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, Translated Literature, and Young People’s Literature) that were nominated, including the longlist titles that were winnowed out today. It is an incredibly diverse selection.
