Climate Change: The Cost of Doing Is Far Cheaper Than Doing Nothing
This is brief outline of a plan for using nonprofit facilities to demonstrate migration to renewable/sustainable energy is replicable in large countries on 6 continents.
Currently, I am unaware of any retail or wholesale effort to assist nonprofit facilities to migrate to clean energy. I think that's called a virgin marketplace.
FIRST YEAR GOAL: Successful energy migration demonstrations in 400 to 600 communities via local nonprofits in the United States. How many homeowners and business owners will be inspired migrate to clean energy upon learning the fundamentals of energy migration?
I will briefly describe my proposal to dramatically focus our nation's and the world's energy on immediately migrating every facility using fossil fuels on the planet to renewable/sustainable energy.
I'm sure you recall seeing on television or in person many demonstrations protesting our failure to effectively begin combating global climate change. I was appalled and angry at the squandering of our most precious: TIME.
We should immediately act to begin harnessing that energy to migrate to clean energy.
How can we mobilize so many to change so much in so little time?
Nonprofit facilities will complete an online grant application, that will be reviewed by our grant making committee. If more information is needed to make an informed decision, more information will be requested.
Facilities accepted into the MAGiKool (Making America Green is Kool) program will receive individual assistance from our Energy Migration Mentors for a calendar quarter.
Mentors will educate nonprofit communities about clean energy alternatives for their facility,
assist in the selection of appropriate clean energy alternatives,
assist in planning for the migration to the selected alternatives and
provide insight into various unique fundraising ideas,
Request the assistance of our foundation grant writing specialists in the
completion of applications for various federal and state grants and loans.
This will enable local nonprofit facilities to mobilize community stakeholders to successfully migrate to clean energy.
Our foundation will provide mentors for a calendar quarter to each nonprofit facility selected to participate in the MAGiKool program. We don't have the time for so many to reinvent the wheel!
Nonprofits will be expected to raise between 15% and 50% of the cost of their migration. The foundation will also make available foundation items at cost that can be sold on sidewalks, local shopping malls, member fundraising events or parties, etc. If a nonprofit meets their fundraising goals, after all loans and grants have been applied toward the cost of migration the foundation will provide the balance of the funding needed to migrate to clean energy. That's why 4 of 10 foundation executives sole focus is fundraising.
Imagine going to your local YMCA, public school, municipal building and/or tennis court, church, mosque synagogue, or temple, etc. AND
Seeing appropriate signs made by your friends, neighbors and their children informing you of global warming's imminent threat and describing various clean energy alternatives that are available NOW. Seeing a calendar setting forth mile markers on the road to the community-determined clean energy goals and/or a schedule of fundraising events. Perhaps, a fundraising thermometer.
A word of caution: clean energy fundraising should have as little impact as possible on the nonprofit's usual and customary fundraising.
REMEMBER: We have dual obligation to serve but not to harm participating nonprofits.
Ten teams of 2 Energy Migration Mentors each will assist between 8 and 12 nonprofit facilities each quarter. That's an effective national energy migration demonstration.
For this endeavor to be successful, we need to enlist the participation the educated and the illiterate, the young as well as the old, rich and poor alike that's why the 16 week Energy Migration Mentor training program is very important.
We will need a Energy Migration Mentor. One woman stood out to me. Her global name recognition approaches that of Mohammed Ali.
Upon receiving your message for additional information I will send you a Word document that more fully describes my proposal with the Startup & First Year Operating Budget Excel workbook.
PS: I accept responsibility for any spelling or logic errors in this Word document or the Excel workbook. Any other errors or omissions you find are yours!
