Greetings people of Earth!
Congratulations, you finally did it!
We’ve been rooting you on with great excitement and anticipation for hundreds of thousands of your trips around that small star you have there. It must have seemed like a long time to you. For us up here on a higher plane, it felt like an hour and a half tops. That’s good, because with immortality you tend to get bored easily. But we’re proud to say that our galaxy has been pushing for you from the very beginning. Even when a few trillion others gave it no chance, and insisted we’d end up wiping you out and starting again somewhere else like we usually do.
But none of that matters now because you made it! You’ll be one of us soon! Maybe only a mere five-hundred years to go!
Now we can reveal everything, the true purpose of what you are and how you got here.
You know that whole killing and war impulse you all have? That wasn’t natural to you, we planted it!
It started when you were still an animal. You a zero percent chance of growing into anything more. We intervened and placed a Star Machine in front of your waterhole (that was the missing link you could never find.) It wasn’t long before you were beating on each other with sticks, then knives, swords, guns and so on. Now over the last forty or so star revolutions, you’ve gotten clever. You even figured out elements of our plan and made one of your movies about it. Your progression of weapons has extended all the way to the nuclear (you just have no idea how much that’s going to come in handy!) Finally you invented your own Star Machine, and few knew it, but soon your entire species was gearing up to make the big leap.
You called this machine Asteroids.
It was a primitive training device, and a portal view into the way the universe really works.
Yes, that’s what our existence is: a never ending battle! That’s what we do.
All the time.
We blow each other up.
Forever.
And now that you have risen beyond the limits of your planet and attacked your first big target in space, we now can see that indeed you are likely to evolve the right way (and not a moment too soon). Eventually you will come to join us in trillions of games.
Unless, of course, you don’t develop any further. That would be unfortunate.
But we believe in you! Be proud! Remember: All these games are yours...
