McMullin raised over $2.5 million in Q3, not a dime came from special interest groups, and the majority of contributions and dollars came from Utahns

Highland, Utah—Today, former undercover CIA officer and independent candidate for U.S. Senate Evan McMullin announced he raised over $2.5 million in the third fundraising quarter of 2022, breaking the record for any Utah challenger in a federal election.



The numbers are a real sign of the campaign’s grassroots strength in Utah: the majority of McMullin’s contributions and total money raised in the third quarter came from inside the state. McMullin for Utah Campaign Manager Andrew Roberts released the following statement in response:



“While Senator Lee relies on out-of-state special interest groups to bankroll his campaign, Evan McMullin hasn’t taken a dime from them. Instead, Evan raised the majority of his contributions and dollars from Utahns. Evan will put people first – and that resonates with voters. Public polling shows this race is a virtual tie.



“This cross-partisan coalition has grassroots momentum making Senator Lee and his Washington special interest allies scared, it’s why they’re spending millions of dollars spreading false attack ads about Evan.



“But Utahns know better than to believe the lies coming from out-of-state special interest groups. The historic support Evan has received from across this state is proof that Utah Republicans, Democrats and independents have had enough of the divisive and ineffective politics of Washington, and that they’re ready for an approach to politics — Evan’s approach — that works to find common ground to actually solve problems and move our country forward.”
