2022 United States Senate election in Arizona [1]

[]

Date: 2022-10

The 2022 United States Senate election in Arizona will be held on November 8, 2022, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the state of Arizona.

This race is expected to be competitive and could determine party control of the U.S. Senate. Incumbent Democrat Mark Kelly was elected in a 2020 special election with 51.2% of the vote and is running for reelection to a full term. The seat had been held by Republican John McCain, who was reelected to the seat in 2016. McCain died on August 25, 2018, and Governor Doug Ducey appointed former U.S. Senator Jon Kyl to fill the seat. Kyl resigned at the end of that year and was replaced by former U.S. Representative Martha McSally, who then lost to Kelly in 2020.

Primaries in Arizona took place on August 2. Kelly won renomination without opposition, while venture capitalist Blake Masters won the Republican nomination against a wide field of candidates. Although Arizona typically leans Republican, most analysts consider Kelly the favorite to win reelection and he leads Masters by mid-to-high single digits in aggregate polling. Kelly also has a significant fundraising advantage, although in recent weeks more Republican aligned groups have begun spending to help Masters.[1]
