About damn time you be feelin’ good as hell!

This week, musician Lizzo played a 200-year old flute once owned by President James Madison and loaned to by the Library of Congress. She later remarked that “history is freaking cool”.

Pretty benign stuff to like 99% of the country. Well, unless you’re a member of White Conservative Christian Republican America, in which a black woman playing a flute of historical significance somehow signifies an attack on American history by the “woke left”:

"The Library of Congress really took out a 200-year old flute that belonged to James Madison just so Lizzo could twerk with it," fumed right-wing operative Greg Price. "They degrade our history and then call you racist if you actually value it." "Everyone involved in the decision to allow Lizzo to twerk while playing James Madison’s flute needs to be deported," raged "America First" supporter Andrew McCarthy. "I don’t care if they’re citizens. Deport them somewhere." Trump-loving author Nick Adams, meanwhile, said that the "Biden Administration is making a mockery of the country" by letting Lizzo play the flute, as he charged that she "isn't talented enough to play music on a $20 Yamaha Plastic Recorder off Amazon." Matt Walsh, the right-wing Christian culture warrior from The Daily Wire, believed that letting Lizzo play the flute was deliberately intended to antagonize white people. "Lizzo playing James Madison's flute was a form of racial retribution, according to the woke Left," he wrote. "And I actually have no doubt that this is part of the reason why the Library of Congress facilitated this spectacle."

All the hallmarks of typical right wing drivel — a rant about the sanctity of American history when only white men were in power and black men and women were chained and shackled? Check. Feigning white victimhood? Check. Calls for authoritarian retribution for doing something you don’t like? Check. Cheap playground insults you wouldn’t say to one’s face? Check. And lastly, somehow blaming Biden for it? Also, check.

Now, we can’t condemn an entire political wing based on the nasty words of a few loud mouthed grifters and crowdpleasers. But what we can do is call on the morally conscious to speak out against them — if those even still exist.

Can I find one “sane” Republican to condemn the dogwhistling about blacks “degrading” American heritage and history?

Can I find one “sane” Republican to condemn the bullying, fatshaming, and abject cruelty from these so-called God-fearing conservatives?

Can I find one “sane” Republican to condemn the call for deporting legal citizens from the United States for exercising their right to free speech?

I’m here waiting.
