The Road Ahead?

While the global weekly death toll from Covid-19 continues to recede at a fairly steady pace and is now at its lowest point in nearly 3 months, there are early signs that a wave of new infections may be starting to build once more in parts of Europe — particularly France, Germany, Italy, and Austria. It’s still too early to determine whether this is just another transient short-term bump within a longer-term downward trend, or the start of a significant new phase in this seemingly never-ending pandemic, but definitely something to keep an eye on over the next few weeks.

Likewise, it’s also worth noting that even if most of the world is still seeing lower levels of Covid-related deaths with each passing week, the US remains a glaring exception to that general pattern. Indeed, the US now accounts for more than 30% of the global total of new deaths — more than the next 6 nations combined!
