This is a very very nice zoo. The enclosures are large and spacious, and they had a varied collection of wildlife, including some snakies from Australia that I have not seen in a very long while. I had a great time here. :)

Some photos.

For those who don't know, I live in a converted campervan and travel around the country, posting photo diaries of places that I visit. I am currently in Nebraska.

Inside the zoo. The dome is the Desert Dome.

Inside the Desert Dome

Abyssinian Ground Hornbill

African Elephant mom and junior

Sable Antelope. Magnificent horns.

Takin (rhymes with “rockin’”)

Pere David’s Deer. Very rare.

Hooded Oriole

Taipan. Generally considered to be the most toxic land snake in the world. He had just shed, and was keeping a VERY close eye on me.

Red-Bellied Piranha

White-Handed Gibbon

Howler Monkeys

Jade-Headed Buffalo Beetles. The photo does not do them justice—they sparkle like jewelry. I want some.

Lesser Kudu

Cape Thick-Knee
