WHY Did Trump Take Boxes of Confidential and Secret Documents? [1]

Why the infamous boxes of top secret and confidential documents were taken by the 45th president is a question many are pondering. What motivated him to comit these crimes? What did he have to gain?
A letter in The Oregonian 9/27/22 suggests that as a renowned cutthroat businessman Trump took the documents he stole to Mar-a-Lago because:
“He knows that secrets are worth something to someone. After all, if high-level people in our government thought they were secret, so would someone else. Someone who would pay for them. He took home things that don’t have a defined market value. He took things that would go to the highest bidder.”
The author of the letter Gordon Merseth got it half right. Merseth posits that “He took home things that don’t have a defined market value. He took things that would go to the highest bidder.”
Yes, the former one-term, twice impeached president saw value in the secret documents he stole. However, the “value” of those secret documents for Trump is far more nefarious. What he sought and clung fast to – hoarded - was far more than monetary.
Secrets Hold Power!
The material he took – which reportedly includes nuclear information and possibly the names of spies - are valuable to our enemies. Their value lies not in money per se but power: quid pro quo power (a polite phrase for blackmail) which he is known to utilize.
He took them because he could.
He took them because he believes laws do not apply to him.
He took them because he believed, in his deluded mind that they were “his” – especially the (“love”) letters from Kim Jong Un. It has been reported that he was extremely proud of those, displayed them in his office and often showed them off to visitors to the Whitehouse.
What makes it extremely concerning is Trump’s well known and openly displayed admiration of depots such as Putin and Kim Jong Un. He is a bootlicking sycophant, fawner to these heroes of his. He admires their total power and believes (hopes?) these totalitarian dictators can help him advance politically, which is why infamously he said to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky: “I want you to do us a favor though.”
The possibilities are endlessly frightening and — classified or not — he stole documents that belonged to the archives, not to him, and he lied and obstructed justice by not returning them when requested to do so by the DOJ.
Trump is evil and dangerous to this country and the world. His actions and his have lost us the trust of our allies.
