The British literary world lost a legend today with the sudden death of Hillary Mantel from stroke.

Noted writer of lengthy historical fiction, she was best know for the Wolf Hall trilogy (Wolf Hall, Bring Up the Bodies, and The Mirror and the Light). Ms. Mantel won the Booker prize for the first two. It is awarded for fiction published in the UK and Ireland, putting her in a class of only three writers Many avid readers will read all short listed Booker prize books, and definitely the winner.

Ms. Mantel was given the title dame by Queen Elizabeth in 2014.
