Too much of a bad thing

I estimate the dumpster at my employer has about 1200 yards of trash a year hauled off. Consistently 2/3’s of it is single use beverage containers of that half are water bottles (I have been on a sometimes silent and sometimes not so silent crusade against bottled water for three decades having never bought or consumed said product) which comes out to 400 years a year x 10 = 4000 yards over 10 years...from just one location. This trash joins discarded mattresses, furniture, appliances and multitudes of other shit society throws out. The amounts of stuff we in just the US toss is obscene.

What goes into making, transporting etc a “Smart Water” and every other consumable is hydro, nuke, gas, coal, petrol, affecting our environment and the atmosphere. Some groups and individuals are working at the Reduce part of the 3 or 4 R’s. Our society hasn’t and shows no sign of doing so. If people somehow can’t live without bottled water (I’ll allow exception for natural disaster) if we can’t pick this low hanging fruit meaningfully reducing single use containers how are we going to pick what is higher and more difficult to reach fruit.
