"The Entrepreneur" highlights the great difficulties many women face in Republican-dominated states where abortion is either being banned or restricted. This will significantly impact women of color, whose limited resources severely limit their choices.
This week’s edition is presented with minimal commentary from me, except for the last section of this diary. There, I make a few suggestions on how to interpret and evaluate editorial cartoons. And something new I have to offer. There were many more editorial cartoons than usual published during the past week and I’ll include around 25-30 of the best ones in the text of Part I of the diary. Any more and the diary becomes difficult to load and refresh. I will, like I always do, post another 10-15 in the comments section. If time permits, I’ll post Part II of this diary between 7:00-9:00 pm ET. It’ll include sections on MAGA lunacy, the pillow guy, Air DeSantis, Steve Bannon, and a few other things. Thanks. Still Your Choice
Who’s Sorry Now?
Overturning Roe remains as unpopular as ever — despite GOP hopes Roe, that move remains as unpopular as the polls have long suggested; indeed, it appears to be . Despite Republicans emphasizing the idea of sending the issue “back to the states,” Americans still oppose overturning Roe by around a 2-to-1 margin. And crucially, they still strongly oppose it even when told that the court’s decision means states can now decide the issue for themselves... Nearly three months later after the Supreme Court overturnedRoe, that move remains as unpopular as the polls have long suggested; indeed, itappears to be one of the court’s most unpopular decisions in modern history . Despite Republicans emphasizing the idea of sending the issue “back to the states,”And crucially, they still strongly oppose it even when told that the court’s decision means states can now decide the issue for themselves... Overall, the Fox poll shows Americans disapprove by a 63 percent to 32 percent margin — right on par with polls conducted both before and after the decision in Dobbs in late June. Other polls show a similarly lopsided split: A Quinnipiac University poll two weeks ago showed Americans disapproved 61-34. And a Kaiser Family Foundation poll in July showed the margin at 65-34 against. “Where’d You All Come From?” x pic.twitter.com/SOwsdNw9m6 — mike luckovich (@mluckovichajc) September 16, 2022 The GOP’s Abortion Problem Is Real and Big The new New York Times/Siena poll finds 62% of registered voters oppose the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade, while 30% support it. Similarly, it finds that 62% of voters favor keeping abortion legal, versus only 31% who think it should be illegal.

A “big lie” needs a small air force working behind the scenes to divert, obfuscate and defend the absurd claim that Donald Trump won the 2020 election. Trump’s acolytes in this effort worked in Washington and around the country, in government and the media, to perpetuate the fraud. They made up false stories, spread dubious claims and swarmed anyone who suggested that truth mattered in the land of make-believe.

Two Approaches
Finally...
I thought these suggestions might be helpful in understanding editorial cartoons a bit better.
How to Evaluate Editorial Cartoons
This diary looks at the past week's important news stories from the perspective of our leading editorial cartoonists (including a few foreign ones) with some analysis and commentary added in by me.
When evaluating a cartoon, ask yourself these questions:
Does a cartoon add to my existing knowledge base and help crystallize my thinking about the issue depicted?
Does the cartoonist have any apparent biases that distort reality?
Is the cartoonist reflecting prevailing public opinion or trying to shape it?
The answers will help determine the effectiveness of the cartoonist's message. I learn something new every week as I spend a fair bit of time researching, sorting through well over 150 cartoons, and finalizing this diary. I hope you enjoy reading it and also learning from it as I do.

“I know nothing.”
If you have any suggestions about the contents of this diary, please direct them to Que Guevara, Manager, JekyllnHyde Customer Service Department, London, England. He will patiently listen to your point of view even if it seems at times he pretends not to. Que is a multilingual expert and world-renowned in customer service and conflict resolution.
A note of caution. Que might seem like a meek and submissive fellow and may even deceptively come across as somewhat clownish, but he is eager to assist you deep down. Trust me, he strongly believes in providing complete satisfaction to one and all who seek his help and advice. Though originally "he's from Barcelona," Que graduated with a degree in consumer relations from the University of Salamanca, Spain. It is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in the world.
