There are times when you just have to go with fluff. This week is one of those for me.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Reviving old beer recipes.
This is a few months old, but I still find it interesting. Researchers in Japan have been studying the development of human morality.
A woman’s grave from around the year 600 included a folding metal chair among the grave goods.
Mathematics has solved the problem of how often to flip a burger to cook it quickly.
A discussion of a relatively new book entitled Buried Beneath the City.
I think somebody already posted this a while back, but I still find it interesting. NASA has released a recording of sounds made by a black hole.
When donkeys were domesticated.
Baby elephant playing with bubbles.
There was a time where women weavers were literally making money.

I bought some knee pads to practice getting up off the floor. I absolutely love hardwood floors, which is what I have in my apartment, but I don’t want to wreck my knees.
I didn’t have to take my grandson to futsol on Wednesday. He came down sick. No, I don’t know what, but likely a juicy cold. He was well enough for school again on Friday, so not so juicy a cold as all that.
New book on my Kindle: #8 in the Case Files of Henri Davenforth. This Potion Is Da Bomb. For those who indulge, the first seven are available through Kindle Unlimited. I pre-order since they are almost exactly to my taste in fiction, and they stand up exceedingly well to re-reading; but I do recommend them with great enthusiasm — not quite at the Ilona Andrews level, but that blog was where I first heard of book 1 in the series.
Celia Lake has also produced a freebie for her fans. It’s what happened when one of her major characters inherited his family’s property and position.

I have my NN2023 membership. At some point soon, I will deal with the hotel room, and then see about the flights. Somehow, I think nonstop from PDX to O’Hare is entirely possible, and on the way home, too. Though the first I attended was in Chicago and I recall sitting for quite some time on the plane till a thunderstorm passed and all the flights lined up ahead of us got into the air.
I checked yesterday and the link to register for the hotel isn’t available yet.

Love you guys!
