When they show you who they are, believe them.
Biden focused the middle and lower-middle class with his student debt forgiveness program, trying to peel off persuadable voters near the Independent/Democratic edge. This is shrewd, as the program narrowly reaches those striving middle-class denizens who can be argued to have put in a good-faith effort but been dealt a bad financial hand. In so doing, he provides relief for a class that has historically been the target of fascist recruitment. It’s a surgical strike.
Conservatives, too, are honing their message. They too are targeting the middle and lower-middle class. But they mean to more amply target their own base—the backbiters, dead-enders.
These conservatives are deliberately calling forth conspiracy theorists (specifically, when drilled down, reactionary White males who identify as evangelical/fundamentalist Christian, especially of the Southern Baptist Convention). In the process, they also called (i.e., recruited) the assistance of other elements of the extremist fringe: the racists; anti-Semites; religious bigots; the manifest supernaturalists; apocalypse seekers; disaffected former LEOs and and ex-soldiers, too; incels; the wealth “liberationists”—these groups also can detect and decode dog whistles. They’ve had that decoder ring for decades.
As Trump was trying to link the FBI search at Mar-a-Lago with any upcoming IRS home visit that might be visited upon any one of his followers, the same time the GOP had echoed Trump’s lead in making such insinuations, another news idtem coincided: the IRS to examine the Southern Baptist Convention.

The same weekend, there was an article aggregated by Google News with a headline blaring that the IRS represented the strongest sign yet that we live in a police state. And I thought to myself, “What audience would be attracted to a propagandistic message about a police state where the visibility of the IRS represents an escalation of a police state?”
That is the target audience of this movement, in a nutshell. The actionable lunatic fringe.

Propaganda is constructed with a purpose. If Trump and the GOP have gone all-in on this FBI/IRS conflation, they must have a goal.
