Disclaimer: I searched recent diaries and didn’t see that anyone else had written about this, so apologies if this is repeating old news.
Bennie Thompson (D-Miss), chair of the House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol, informed reporters the committee is in possession of “thousands of exhibits” from Secret Service agents in response to the subpoena the committee served the agency back in July.
According to Thompson, the material consists primarily of texts from agents on January 5 and 6, but also includes radio traffic, emails, and Microsoft Teams chat messages.
No word yet on the specifics of any important information gleaned from this latest haul, but I’m hopeful we’ll learn more at the committee’s next hearing on September 28 and that it will provide additional corroborating evidence of criminal action by Trump and everyone involved in planning and/or facilitating the insurrection and violence on January 6.
