Not sure who else obsessively checks the Gallup party ID tracking poll each month but big shift for August, in favor of Democrats. 30% consider themselves Democrats vs 24% party of treason, 43% independent. Compare to 29, 28 and 41 respectively for July, and similar numbers in other recent months.

Maybe bigger, though, they ask the leaner question. And among those 43% identifying as independent, 48% lean Democrat vs 38% party of treason. That’s a big shift, as recent prior months have been 1-2% in favor of the PoT. Link:
