A member of the City Council of the SW MO city of Nixa has resigned due to ‘hate and vitriol’ by MAGAs.

Amy Hoogstraet resigned this week from Nixa's city council.

The youth services coordinator at Springfield's GLO Center, Hoogstraet received scrutiny for her advocacy for LGBTQ Nixa residents since being elected to her three-year city council term a year-and-a-half ago.

But Hoogstraet said the backlash to her work with children at the GLO Center became too much as she resigned this week.

Any satisfaction or effectiveness I previously felt has long since been overshadowed by all of the aforementioned hate, vitriol, misinformation, and defamation that I experience on a constant basis.
