First up, a fascinating speculative look at ancient Roman dodecahedra, which were likely not used for knitting, after all, despite an initial resemblance to modern circular knitting tools and processes. And there’s a lot more here than just knitting info here, there’s also interesting dives into history, engineering, puzzles . . . Read through both pieces (I recommend clicking all the links, the tangents here are equally fun), then see what you think these mysterious objects might have been used for!

Now here’s something with a little more solid ground under its feet. It’s “the long and fascinating history of wartime knitting, from a mainly North American perspective. We’re gonna touch on the Civil War, the Revolutionary War, Little Women, A Tale of Two Cities, knitting espionage, how linguistics played a role in knitting styles, and more!” It’s long, but there are plenty of good natural pause points if you want to watch in chunks.
And finally, here are two fun (and shorter!) fact-checking videos about the historical accuracy of knitwear featured on popular historical dramas: All Creatures Great and Small, and Outlander:

I hope you found something to interest you here — enjoy the rest of your week!
