Daily Kos has done a better job than anyone of informing me about Ukraine since the war began in February.

But just before the invasion I also discovered Peter Zeihan .

He is what I call a strategic forecaster. He has a good sense of humor and is very straightforward.

Besides lots of facts about demographics, energy, and natural resources, he has given me ways to look at China that I haven’t found anywhere else. (He thinks China is in a steep, irreversible collapse, and is perhaps turning into another isolated, crazy place like a giant North Korea. One of the things he has described is how they have no effective vaccines, so are using endless long lockdowns to deal with Covid, which is making a bad situation even worse.)

He has been very cautious about seeming to predict Ukraine would prevail in this war.

However, he pointed out yesterday that what has happened in September is absolutely amazing:
