What that means is that for any state that has imposed stricter laws, such as banning the procedure after six weeks or even outright; prohibiting people from crossing state lines to obtain an abortion; obtaining abortifacients through the mail; or even criminalizing the procedure itself against the pregnant person or those who assist them, those laws will continue to be enforced.

So, this "15 weeks" is NOT some meet in the middle compromise" from the extremism being pushed by Republicans (even though it is so opposed by voters that even in Kansas where there are twice as many republicans as democrats, it lost by 20 POINTS ! ) across the country. No, this only further limits the options of women. This doesn't remove the extremist SAVE THE ZYGOTE legislation being pushed and passed when IT'S NOT PUT UP FOR A VOTE (BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF VOTERS DON'T SUPPORT THEIR LEGISLATION). It leaves that in place. That's not a compromise.

90% of abortions are performed in the first trimester. The remainder are almost all in difficult and often heart-wrenching situations. Less than 1% of abortions are performed in the third trimester.

People seek third-trimester abortions for two main reasons: because they learn new information – such as about the health of the fetus – or because of barriers to abortion access, often as a result of state policies. Those are the key findings of a study I recently published in the journal Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health, based on interviews with 28 women from 14 different U.S. states. Terminating a pregnancy after 21 weeks is exceedingly rare. Yet myths about why people pursue abortions after 24 weeks – when the third trimester of pregnancy begins – are a dominant part of the debate over abortion. I wanted to use real stories to help overturn these myths. Here’s an example: One woman I interviewed, for example, explained that she needed an abortion following a diagnosis at 29 weeks of pregnancy that her fetus’s brain was not developing. Because a great deal of fetal brain development happens after the 24th week of pregnancy, there was no way to diagnose this problem earlier.

The Zygote is not more important than the life of the woman who would have to experience the consequences and who deserve bodily autonomy like men have. The forced birther is trying to impose their religious views on women and their doctors, people they don't even know. Should we pass legislation that says you must pray towards MECCA every day? Should we imprison or fine a wife who doesn't submit? Making somebody else follow the dictates of your personal religion is a very BAD idea. Where does it stop? Force everyone to become a fundamentalist Christian? Logically, that is where this leads. Most of the country and most voters are NOT fundamentalists. But now, you're trying to force others who may not be and probably aren't into your religion to follow your morality from your religion. This is theonomy. It's like what is practiced in nations where they impose the Qu'ran.

Again, this lie that republicans are pushing is being exposed for exactly what it is, a lie.
