At this point, there’s not much else to be said.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Different one-liners have been popping into my head all week:
You control the gravity on this planet. Lighten up! (a piece of good advice from a fortune cookie)
My dignity can survive anything except me taking it seriously. (I think this is actually mine)
If you’re going through Hell, walk like you own the place. (off the internet)
The one thing you can’t trade for your heart’s desire is your heart. (paraphrase of Lois McMaster Bujold)
Being somebody else is too high a price for anything. (my version of the one above — I was five)

I was a bit startled during one of my morning walks this past week. It’s usually me who greets the total stranger, and a guy on a bike came up from behind me calling “Hi”. We had a few minutes’ conversation and went about our individual business.
I just totted up a few things. There will be four more rounds of political donations, and then I go back to my basic list of assorted charities. I know I’m repeating myself here, but I am really sick of getting begging emails from people I just gave money to. Important races and I don’t plan to stop till Election Day; but damn I’m sick of getting hit up for money.
What I did about correcting my name on the legal document I had to sign must have been enough, because I haven’t heard anything else about it.
My grandson and his male best friend (yes, he has a female best friend, too) are signed up for 7 weeks of futsol lessons. Wednesdays. This happens to be one of his dad’s days off, so I may not have to deal with getting them there after school; though I have the driving instructions just in case. Next week is me. It looks like we’ll have to check this every time.
I also, on Thursday, got an object lesson in why I need to put more practice into getting up off the floor. I managed to sit down rather than fall when my foot landed on a couple of gum balls under the tree outside the school while I was waiting for my grandson; but getting up was quite the production — three or four different women helped me after I couldn’t explain to my grandson what I needed him to do. First thing I truly needed was to get away from the blasted tree, but I still needed help after that.
Nights are getting cooler, though not by much. I will need to put sheets on my bed for October, but I have been sleeping strictly on top of the blankets since the end of June.
On Saturday, I went out for my circuit around the immediate neighborhood, seeing that weird yellow that means smoke in the air when I shut my door. The forecast had been for clear and hot with some wind (the wind started late on Thursday), and it looked like cloudy with smoke underneath. Nope. All smoke. When I got out to where the trees didn’t block the sky, there was a perfect circle of red in the sky. I did the circuit, a bit faster than I’d intended.

At this point, I have to thank weck for bringing the Andrew Lessman Circulation and Vein Support supplement to my attention. I bought some that same day, and in the time I’ve been taking the stuff, the sharp pain in my right shin has disappeared. I don’t think it will come back.

Love you guys!
