Voyager 1 in the vast void.
It is important to recognize good things — especially those events that have never, ever happened before in the known, and probably unknown, history of humankind….
Forty-five Years Into the Void
How far is humanity's reach?
157.538189 AU and counting...
Where each Astronomical Unit (AU) is
≅ 93,000,000 miles.
One small construction
Of metal, materials and ingenuity
Is our species symbolic ambassador
Now traveled beyond
Even the reach of the Sun's
Electromagnetic influence
And slipped into the void
Of true interstellar space.
Tiny, brave probe out in the cold
Doing its job of relaying back home
Details of its ongoing current environment
In scientific terms,
Speaking to us from
Almost 22 light-hours away.
And by its mission
And very existence
Saying, too, to any out there
Who can hear,
"We are here,
"We are here!"
The collective imagination
Of the minds of Earth
Made real
Called Voyager 1.

The spacecraft Voyager 1 is amazing and still working. Although, a few day ago, a glitch developed in the data transmitted by Voyager 1 back to our planet. A software command from Earth, which traveled 22 hours or 14.6 billion miles to reach the spacecraft, resolved the problem. Amazing!
