These war images on line — the ones not approved by Ukraine — just have to stop. They are dangerous. I realize they pop up on the internet — they are irresponsible. Ukraine must be pulling their hair out.
It has to occur to you that if Ukraine is not even letting journalists go with them to much of the field then unauthorized images posted by assholes with a cell phone camera are not cool.
Every one of those images can have potentially very sensitive information — and needs to be cleared by Ukrainian intelligence and counter intelligence.
These little feel good moments can expose unit IDs, geographies, weapons systems, more — not for public consumption — until Ukraine says they are. Little details you don’t see or think do not mean anything really can mean a lot. God knows I never liked those spooks in my time- but goddamn can they pull information out of their ass — there are trained to. One of those “images” deals could have gotten my kid killed on live TV. You can’t know just what they want censored and why — so at least do not help them get any traction. They need to be persuaded to stop this — these cell phone warriors.
Their big push north — had to have really extended them and IS risky! That is a fact. I know our military would have advised to not reach so deep like that while in a big push hundreds of miles away. Now they have to deal with internet assholes?
They are swarming and popping the lines here, the shotgun offensive as I call it — you should at least understand it is a real bad idea to have images that ID specific units geography. Can put units is a place they didn’t think they were. At least that. And it is a lot more then that.
Wars with bloggers in it — what could go wrong. Why can’t these people control themselves! They don’t know what they are doing!!!!!!!!!! They need to be convinced to just stop it. I thought hell would freeze over before I ever thought much of the spooks — but now there are fucking cell phone cameras out there. Hell is freezing over here.
I won’t say this again. You guys must know this. This is not complicated. If Ukraine does not want this shit out there — then don’t help it get out there. Hopefully this gets through to those cell phone warriors to just stop it.
