Meduza Twitter Announcement Municipal deputies in St. Petersburg have put forward a proposal to the State Duma to bring treason charges against Russian President Vladimir Putin. Meduza (a Russian magazine that moved out of Russia so they could continue to publish — I highly recommend subscribing to the English edition) and Newsweek have published on this now.

Highlights — ask the Duma to remove Putin from office over the current war with Ukraine

- The officials who are behind this formal request, and earlier informal ones are the district managers from Smolninskoye.

These officials have no political power to actually remove Putin from office, other than the publicity of their going public and asking formally. They are no doubt endangering themselves, and their families doing this.
