JK Rowling just can't stop. [1]

She's at it again. And now us POTS folks get to be part of the fun.
For those who are fortunate enough to not already be aware, J.K. Rowling has released a new book. We’ve been hearing about this book for some time, and knew it was going to be an anti-trans dumpster fire. And it is.
Fun note of homophobia with her publishing under the pen name Robert Galbraith. Previously, Rowling has claimed to be an LGB ally. But that is hard to see with the adaptation of such a penname. So, I guess her alleged advocacy for same sex relationships is out the window now, too.
While I haven’t followed Rowling closely, I have not previously been aware of her engaging in ableism. But this book goes after the chronically ill, too! You see, this new book is about the murder of a “poor, downtrodden TERF,” following their first being the victim of mass harassment. The brains behind this harassment and murder is a person with fibromyalgia and POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). Yes, Rowling’s villains have moved on from being dark wizards with weird obsessions with snakes. Now they’re LGBTQIA+ Twitter Warriors with chronic illness. Because we chronically ill folks who frequently get left behind by every facet just need to be taken down a peg. This is an attack on persons with fibromyalgia, POTS, and CFS, and chronic illness more generally.

I have been diagnosed with post viral POTS and wild fit diagnostic criteria for CFS, too, on account of COVID (i.e. POTS is part of my long COVID presentation). It can be incredibly debilitating. Presently, I have had to dictate this post to my fiancee, because I have neither the energy nor mental clarity to focus on typing. He had to entirely write some sections, as I became too tired from dictating. I cannot walk for more than a few minutes, and so need a wheelchair to get around in public, and spend much of my time at home lying in bed. The idea of planning a murder in this state is absurd.
Due to my health, I will not be as engaged with comments on this past as I would like. I will respond as I am able. I’ll also take a moment to thank this community, which has been a place where I’ve found solace by still having way to engage while stuck in bed. I especially thank Dawn Chorus, where I can look at pictures when that is all I am well enough to do. Thanks also to my partner for taking the time to help me write this.
