NEWS BLACKOUT as MSNBC and CNN go 100% Queen coverage [1]

I’ve been watching MSNBC, CNN (and now some FOX) for the past 3-4 hours. I tuned in to keep up on elections, investigations, Steve Bannon turning himself in, police violence, war, economy… but all I have gotten from MSNBC and CNN is non-stop Queen.
There is nothing more antithetical to the values and goals of egalitarian society than the concept of royalty. “Monarchies” are a classist, anti-democratic medieval relic.
To the degree that the UK is perhaps the USA’s most important ally, I can agree that the British Queen is a valid story, but it is indeed just one story. I tuned into MSNBC and CNN early today, thinking I would hear about Bannon. But all I have from both of those networks, now into my 3rd hour of “watching” 100@ of screen time by MSNBC, and 99% of screen time by CNN to the “health of the Queen” I have seen the same still photos of the concerned family (including Andrew, lol) and video of the same gates (with them practically falling over themselves when an SUV went in one). CNN did mention Steve Bannon a couple hours ago, that’s how they get their 99%.
FWIW, I expanded my “watching” to FOX, just to see. They have been business as usual, with “stories” on the election, economy, pot-stirring, Democrat hit pieces, the one guy with the four women around him, and they cover the queen. I would put Fox at about 10% of screen time the queen this morning. Look at that pig flying through that snowstorm in hell, FOX has it about right on the importance of the British monarchy.
Why, oh why, are Americans such sycophants for the British Monarchy, the institution we rebelled against and created the earth’s first democracy representative (or one of the first)? And if so, why would the so called “left wing press” and/or anyone left of center care about a monarchy.
“Monarchy” rests on the idea that some people are better than others simply by birth, that someone has the “right” to “rule” over you because of who their family is. There is NOTHING more regressive that this concept.
Americans should be friends with Brits DESPITE the monarchy, not BECAUSE of it. If the head of state, or figurative head of state, or silly medieval relic that was important to another ally was in grave health, I would expect to hear about it. But MSNBC and CNN are doing a disservice to the American public today by not reporting the myriad important stories of the day.
They just announced her death. Perhaps England will take this opportunity to dispose of the classist relic that is monarchy.
