Biden’s Fight Against MAGA Extremism [1]

In his primetime address in Philadelphia, President Joe Biden warned about the threat of “MAGA extremists”, who “fan the flames” of discord in their relentless quest to control the destiny of this country. Trump rightly called the midterms and the future electoral and Congressional battles we face, a battle for the “soul of the nation”. Although the president, as Uniter-in-Chief, emphasized that MAGA extremists are not in the majority in the Republican party, he was at pains to point out that MAGA extremists have taken it over, saying Republicans are “dominated, driven and intimidated” Trump and his MAGA supporters.
In the days after his historic speech, Republicans have sought to twist Biden’s message, arguing that his speech vilified half the country, despite the president’s careful language. That said, it is important to note that even though many Republicans are not MAGA Republicans, they are complicit by virtue of their silence, and support of Trump, in the crimes of MAGA extremism. You just have to see the glee with which Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney’s primary defeat was met by Republican leaders, almost all of whom treated it as if it was the Moon Landing. Her defeat means that there are just 2 House Republican candidates who do not endorse the Big Lie, that are up for election in the following midterms. What was Cheney’s crime? Vigorously investigating the January 6 insurrection.
