20 Months After Jan. 6. Is Rule of Law Enforced? Are our Elections Protected? [1]

18 months after Jan. 6, I wrote this post. I stand by it.
Now we’re at 20 months.
In recent news: Donald Trump’s residence was raided by the FBI to recover highly classified government documents (with as yet no further legal action); and in separate news, video emerges from Georgia showing Trump fake electors escorting operatives into Georgia county’s election office before a voting machine breach in the wake of the 2020 election. I have no reason not to assume that the DOJ has become aware of this incident in the same way we all have, by reading about it in the news (or alternatively, they aren’t aware of it at all).
We’ve got a little bit of a problem here.
After the Watergate scandal, Richard Nixon didn’t go to prison. But White House Counsel John Dean and various others did. Although some argue that Nixon’s pardon by Ford was a travesty, it should not be overlooked that the fate of John Dean and Nixon’s other helpers undoubtedly stood as a deterrent to those who would assist an unscrupulous leader in breaking the law.
Today, not only has Trump not faced any legal consequences for his efforts to obstruct the transfer of power, but nearly all of his many, many John Dean’s have also not yet been held to account.
Do we have a DOJ that is going to enforce the law?
