Still the same jerk in 2022
Arizona Democratic Senator Mark Kelly, who’s up for re-election this November, is running a television ad that begins: “In Arizona, a man is as good as his word,” then it includes some “words” from his opponent, Blake Masters. Words like: “Women don’t make less than men,” and if they do it’s because “Men do all the dangerous work,” and maybe we should “Cut the cord and privatize Medicare and Social Security,” and “Overturning Roe doesn’t go far enough—no exceptions for rape or incest.”
So it appears Mark Kelly doesn't have to do much, just let Masters, a 36-year-old protégé of libertarian billionaire Peter Thiel, run his mouth. Masters has been doing such a good job the RNC pulled millions of dollars in advertising out of the state because, even with Thiel’s millions, he’s well behind in the polls—mostly because he had to say such outlandish shit to get trump’s endorsement (which he got) and then he had to out-crazy the other Republicans to win the primary (which he did). Now he’s stuck with it (and all the endorsements from white nationalists).
To save his candidacy, Masters has deleted or at least backed away from some of the “words” Mark Kelly has been featuring—scrubbing language from his website about the 2020 election being stolen, taking down the forced-birth garbage, backing away from his “replacement theory” fear-mongering, erasing comments about privatizing Social Security and Medicare, and claiming he doesn’t even know the racists and Nazis who’ve endorsed him. He’s a flip-flopper of the highest caliber, but one thing he’s never flipped on: being an absolute jerk. With that he’s remained constant.
Take 2008, for example, when Blake Masters made the following video, rapping about something I’m not too clear about—something to do with Obama and political correctness, so he’s going to don war paint to prove a point. Which is that he’s a white, privileged idiot who got called out for his racist and antisemitic college writings.
x YouTube Video
Sure, I’ve read the comments in the local online platforms: He was a young man, we all do stupid stuff, this was a long time ago. I call bullshit! This was 2008, not 1958, and 22-year-old Blake Masters was attending law school at Stanford, where he previously received his bachelor’s degree in political science.
He’s an entitled bigot—was and is. And not very talented either.
