Most of the places I have been visiting in Des Moines have been “inside”, since it’s been pretty hot here lately. But I did get the chance to do some “outside” exploring too.
Some photos from a visit to Grays Lake Park. There’s a walking path that goes around the lake, and also runs along the Raccoon River.
For those who don't know, I live in a converted campervan and travel around the country, posting photo diaries of places that I visit. I am currently in Iowa.
The park
Gray’s Lake
The walking/biking path runs all around the lake, including this bridge
Some folks fishing
Playground
I think this is an old grain silo
This little boy was digging for critters
The Raccoon River
The underpass bridge leads to ...
… Water Works Park on the other side of the street
This park was designed by Frederick Olmstead, the person who designed NYC’s Central Park
An apple orchard
